1600L Climatic Chamber | 15°C/min, 20kW Heat Load for Auto Testing

When it comes to advanced Automotive Environmental Testing, pushing the boundaries of temperature control is essential. Wewon Environmental Chambers Co., Ltd. proudly introduces a groundbreaking solution: a high-performance Environmental Test Chamber engineered for the most extreme industrial demands. As a state-of-the-art Rapid Rate Thermal Chamber, this machine delivers unparalleled precision. Whether you are conducting standard durability assessments or complex Dynamic Heat Load Testing, our robust Climatic Chamber ensures absolute accuracy and reliability for your critical automotive components.

The “Hell-Level” Engineering Challenge: 15°C/min LINEAR Rate with 20kW Load: What truly sets this 15°C/min linear rapid rate temperature test chamber apart is its ability to maintain a strict linear temperature change. Many manufacturers claim rapid temperature transitions, but these are often non-linear or measured empty. Achieving a true 15°C/min linear rate is already a formidable task. However, doing so while the test sample generates a massive 20kW active heat load is considered a “hell-level” engineering challenge in our industry. Most ordinary factories simply cannot achieve this.

This is an electrical functional test carried out over the entire temperature range for normal operation given in Table 2, beginning at Tr (room temperature) and changed in 5 °C decrements/increments as shown in Figure 4. 10.3.1 Stepped Temperature Test over the Normal Operating Temperature Range 10.3 Climatic Tests|SMTC 3 800 001
The purpose of the test is to check whether the required mechanical and electrical functions are fulfilled over the complete specified temperature range at any temperature between the upper and lower limits.
Holding time t1: test time (complete electrical function test)
Holding time t2: total holding time (temperature stabilising period + test time t1)
Number of cycles: 1 cycle
Test begins and ends at Ta (room temperature)
Rate of change of temperature should be approximately1 °C/min
The component must be completely temperature-stabilized at the respective temperature level before the test time (t1) commences. The test voltage (Up) shall only be applied to the component during test time t1 (except for permanent battery connections) and this time should be as short as possible to prevent excessive intrinsic heating of the sample.
Figure 4 Stepped temperature test
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning during and after the test at both the minimum and maximum operating voltages (see Section 8.4.2)
When turning the engine off after driving at high speeds/loads, the underbonnet temperature rises significantly due to what is known as ‘heat soak’.This test is to ensure that underbonnet components are able to function correctly at these elevated temperatures. 10.3.2 Hot “Engine Off” Temperature Test
Specific requirements:
Temperature/location requirements in accordance with Table 2.
Time at elevated temperature 30 min.
Electrical test The sample shall function correctly at the elevated temperature with all supplies connected.
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning during and after the test and shall suffer no visible damage or deformation.
If the vehicle is re-sprayed, high temperatures can occur during the paint drying process and this test is to ensure that components are not damaged by these elevated temperatures. This test applies only to components which would experience the elevated temperature during the respray process, as given in Table 2. 10.3.3Re-spray Oven Stoving Temperature Test
Specific requirements:
Temperature/exposure time in accordance with Table 2.
Electrical connections permanent battery connection only, if applicable
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning after the test and shall suffer no visible damage or deformation.
The dewing test is to test for the effect of condensation on printed circuit boards. 10.3.4 Dewing Test
The dewing test is applicable only to electronic components containing printed circuit boards.
It is not required if the component is hermetically sealed.
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning during and after the test.
Test Condition:
Test temperature: Low temperature Tu;(see Tab.2)
Test method: The component works with the power supply and load connected.
Test duration: 48 h;
Requirement: The component should be capable of functioning during and after the test.
10.3.5 Operating at low temperature
Test Condition:
Test temperature:High temperature To; (see Tab.2)
Test method: The component works with the power supply and load connected.
Test duration:48 h;
Requirement:The component should be capable of functioning during and after the test.
10.3.6 Operating at high temperature
Vehicle components are subjected to changing temperatures that can result in two principal causes of degradation or failure: 10.3.7 Change of Temperature Test
a) Mechanical stresses, as a result of temperature gradients, caused by the different coefficients of expansion of different materials when combined. This can also occur within homogeneous materials.
b) Condensation at rising temperatures when the temperature of the components is below the dew point can cause electrolytic corrosion to occur. This test is designed to maximize the condensation on the component under test.
The temperature cycling test is required in order to ensure the operational reliability of electrical and electronic components and systems throughout their service life in respect of temperature changes.
Dew formation shall not be prevented and the maximum absolute humidity in the test chamber shall not exceed 20 g/m”. The air of the chamber shall be circulated and the air velocity measured close to the sample shall not be less than 2 m/s.
The upper and lower temperatures are given in Table 2 (normal operating temperature range) and shall be maintained within a tolerance of ±2°C.
The test samples shall be connected to a permanent battery feed during the entire test where this is the case in the vehicle application. A complete functional test is to be carried out after one hour of exposure time at Tu, and continually during the temperature increase phase from +20 °C until the end of exposure at To.
Table 2 specifies the required number of cycles. This test is not required if temperature cycles specified in Tab 2 are exceeded within the endurance test.
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning during and after the test. Electrical/mechanical tests to verify full functionality shall be carried out following completion of the test.

Q: How to test engine performance with dynamic heat load?
A: Testing engine performance or high-power battery packs requires a chamber capable of dynamic heat extraction. As the engine component operates and cycles through different power states, it emits varying levels of heat (up to 20kW). Our 1600L Climatic Chamber uses a rapid-response cooling system and high-volume airflow to instantly neutralize this thermal output, ensuring the surrounding environmental temperature strictly follows the programmed linear profile without lagging or overheating.

Q: What is the difference between a linear and non-linear temperature rate?
A: A non-linear rate means the temperature changes quickly at first but slows down as it approaches the target temperature (an average curve). A linear rate, which our 15°C/min chamber guarantees, means the temperature changes at a constant, exact speed every single minute, representing a much higher level of compressor power and control software sophistication.
